Edinburgh Zine Fest 2024
Fruitmarket Warehouse
45 Market St, Edinburgh EH1 1DF
Saturday 10th February, 11-6 and Sunday 11th February, 11-5
Basic Info
The zine fest is running in Fruitmarket’s Warehouse space. If you’re curious what this looks like, you can watch from 2:41 of this video: https://www.fruitmarket.co.uk/a-new-fruitmarket/
The fest will be open from 11 am - 6 pm on Saturday 18th Feb and 11 am - 5 pm on Sunday 19th Feb. This is an hour later than the Artists BookMarket starts. You can arrive anytime from 9.30 am to set up. If you are tabling over two days, you can leave stock in the space overnight however, although the warehouse will be closed and locked up, we can’t guarantee its safety.
Size. Tables are 6ft by 2 ft, which means a half table will be 3ft by 2 ft.
Tablecloths. We won’t be providing tablecloths, so if you want to use one please bring your own!
Chairs. We’ve allowed for two chairs per half table when hiring chairs. We have our usual folding chairs and some sturdier high backed chairs. Please let us know if you have any specific needs with seating.
Stock. This is a reminder that we’re prioritising zines at the zine fest. If you do want to bring prints, pins, patches or other merch please make sure it’s a small proportion of your overall table - we’re thinking approximately 20% of what you’re selling.
Cafe. Fruitmarket has a cafe on site that sells hot drinks and good food. Fruitmarket is also in central Edinburgh so there’s lots of good places around. You can also bring a packed lunch/snacks. We’ll be there to offer advice on the day.
If you have any questions please get in touch at zines@edinburghzinelibrary.com
Covid
Covid-19 isn’t going anywhere and we think it's important to continue to protect ourselves and each other!
Masks. We are asking everyone (tablers, attendees and organisers) to wear masks where possible. We strongly recommend N95 masks, as these offer the greatest protection. We will have N95 masks available for tablers if you do not have your own.
Social Distancing. The Warehouse is a large space, and we have worked to space tables to allow folks to keep their distance. Please be mindful that people may have different levels of comfort around sharing space.
LFT. If you have access to tests, please consider taking one before attending EZF 2023.
Community Care Expectations
By attending the Edinburgh Zine Festival, you’re agreeing to our Community Care Expectations. You can read a short description of these here, as well as the actions we might take if we feel these expectations are not being met.

FAQs
These will be updated as questions come in!

Fruitmarket is next door to one of the entrances to Edinburgh Waverley train station. It is 5 minutes walk from Prince’s Street where most buses stop. Lothian buses charge a £1.80 flat fare for a single, and you just tap your card (you don’t need to ask for a particular stop). Fruitmarket is also about 10 minutes walk from Edinburgh Bus Station where most coaches stop.

Send an email to zines@edinburghzinelibrary.com if you need to get in touch. We’ll be sending an email out about a week beforehand with contact numbers for both days in case you need to get in touch on the day.

There’s a nice cafe at Fruitmarket with small bites. You can also bring a packed lunch - there’s small supermarkets and chain coffee shops all around Waverley. If you’re up for venturing further afield, here’s some recommendations from EZL members:
Jordan Valley, 8 Nicholson Street, open 10-5 Sat, closed Sunday, really nice healthfood store with falafal, houmous, flatbreads, pre-made pastries and other snacks. Great to stock up on for a long day.
BBL Pleasance, 65 Pleasance, open sat 8-3pm, sun 9-3pm, really good vegan breakfast options including homemade lorne sausage, a full scottish and more. sit in or takeaway.
Mosque Kitchen, Nicholson Street/Sq. Ignore the sign about there being only one. There’s the big one on Nicholson street, open 10.30-11pm everyday. Then the smaller one off Nicholson sq. round the back of the mosque. Both serve good canteen curries, with lots of vegan and veggie options.
